This is my 25th year attending Rainbow King Lodge; my first trip was in 2001.I have to say, it’s amazing that a trip of a lifetime can somehow continue to get better every year. Every aspect of this year’s trip was exceptional—the fishing, the guides, the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the camaraderie with the group I bring each year were all outstanding.It truly continues to exceed expectations and just keeps getting better.
Every aspect of our experience was 5 star+. Rainbow King Lodge is an amazing place with access to the best fishing whether it’s salmon, trout, grayling or halibut. Flying out every day to a different destination was icing on the cake. Everyone involved (guides, kitchen staff, drivers, etc.) were world class with providing the best possible experience their priority. Watching the day come together was akin to watching a conductor (Tony, Gus) guide a world class orchestra through a most challenging piece with outstanding results. We could not give RKL a higher recommendation.
Rainbow King is an outstanding choice for both the novice and expert angler. The guides are extremely knowledgeable accommodating and service oriented. You won’t have to lift a finger, tie a rig, or carry equipment. They take care of it all and all you need to do is concentrate on catching fish in some of the most beautiful rivers you will ever get to see. Huge fish galore from Rainbows to Salmon to Grayling to Halibut…. you won’t be disappointed. It’s an amazing experience.
I loved it all. The guides, the staff the food are all exceptional. It was an outstanding experience from the time you get your wake up in the morning with coffee, or whatever your pleasure. Then off for your day of catching the largest fish I have ever caught. You go by float plan to a great fishing location and wade or float. You are the only ones there besides the wildlife and the Bears. They go out of there was to make sure you are having an exceptional experience. I keep smiling thinking about my week. Thank-you to all of the staff you are the best. I highly recommend this trip. It was the best week I have ever had and look forward to going back.
This is such an amazing week-long experience provided by RKL. All staff from the chefs, servers, fishing guides, pilots, etc. are all top notch and go out of their way to make sure everyone has an exceptional experience. I would recommend this location to anyone who is interested in such an epic trip!!!
I have been fortunate to be able to visit Rainbow King on multiple occasions. I was able to experience several new fishing experiences on this trip. The trip to fish for rainbow trout was memorable because we were the only four fishermen on the river. During our flight to the destination, we did see a huge Brown Bear sow with “four” cubs on the beach of Lake Iliamna. Wayne and Hunter, our fishing guides did an exceptional job getting us into a position on the river to catch some beautiful rainbow trout. It was a day that will live forever in my mind.
Very unusual and fur visit..MY WIFE loved it …The fishing was great ,the food could not be be better…the service from the staff was world class….I do plan to do it again..

Tim and I wanted to take a moment to express our sincere thanks for an absolutely unforgettable fishing trip. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully taken care of. The accommodations were not only incredibly comfortable, but maintained in immaculate condition by our sweet maid. The entire lodge felt like a home away from home. The food was fantastic! Every meal was delicious and perfectly prepared for each of our individual needs. It was served with a great smile from Carly and Lara. And our how about our guides? Coleman, Alex, Brett and Brent simply outstanding! Their knowledge, patience, and passion for fishing made each day on the water a joy. We felt completely taken care of the entire time. There wasn’t a single thing we didn’t need that wasn’t already anticipated and provided for. A huge thank you to Clay, Steve and Gus for keeping us safe flying to and from the locations. Prayers are always welcome, but not necessary when you men are manning the controls. Thank you to all the individuals behind the scenes. Your work does not go unnoticed. Beautiful grounds. We must not forget Tony. The master organizer. You’re the best! You are better than a hot fudge sundae with nuts and a cherry on top. Thank you again for such a wonderful three day experience. We left with full hearts, great memories, and we already are thinking of the next trip back.

This was the first time my husband and I visited the Rainbow King Lodge, and we will go back. There are not enough positive words to describe our experience. The customer service is out of this world. Shout out to Tony, the host, Steve and Gus, the float plane pilots, Carly and Laura, the waitress staff, and our guides, Brent, Hunter and Alex. We were treated like 5 star guest from the beginning until the end. The food is also incredible. You’re fed nonstop with 5 star rated food. We loved every minute. Thank you Rainbow King Lodge for exceeding our expectations.
Fishing was excellent every day! I caught 17 Rainbow Trout on one particular day… and they were all very nice Trout… one at almost 25 inches….!

This is my seventh year my son and I have been to Rainbow King Lodge. It is an amazing experience. The hospitality is off the charts. The fishing is great. The service is amazing and the food is off the charts. Kudos to Gus and Becky and Tony and the rest of the staff. See you next year.
We had the perfect fishing trip. Everyone at Rainbow King was great. The service was excellent. The guides were very good. The food was delicious. Fishing in Alaska is a unique experience, and RKL allows you to enjoy it to the fullest. I highly recommend RKL, and hope to return someday.
Second time to stay at RAINBOW KING LODGE – the whole experience was “over the top”! Fantastic guides, attentive/accommodating management, wonderful dining, oh yeah, GREAT FISHING!!! Alaska is MAGIC and RAINBOW KING LODGE is the place to experience it.
The service and congeniality from the guides, pilots, chef, kitchen staff, drivers, and if I left anyone off them too was superb. It was a real team effort and I give Tony a big thumbs up for seeing to it all. And the fishing was outstanding on every day trip I took. i give it six stars. This is the second time I’ve been fortunate enough to spend a week at Rainbow King Lodge and I can’t recommend it enough. This is a truly world class, best -of -your -life fly fishing trip. And everyone including Gus, Tony, the guides, the chefs and the rest of staff are courteous and care about making your trip awesome. Not a trip just for hard core fly fisherman as the level of amenity makes the trip awesome for casual fisherman who want to experience the best of Alaska. Bears, caribou, and a cold dip in lake illiamna! Highly recommend.
Gus and Tony do everything possible to make rainbow King the place to go for salmon fishing. Weather can change in minutes and they adjust and keep the amazing experience flowing. This was my fifth year and I plan on going every year until I can’t.
Tough to choose. Best fishing in the world with first class service. Every member of the staff has to attitude to make sure the experience is perfect.
