Daily Fly-Out Fishing

Float Plane Annual Inspection

Annual Inspection

Rainbow King’s aircraft include two six-passenger deHavilland Beavers and one ten passenger deHavilland Turbine Otter.

  • N68082 is a 1953 fixed wing single engine Beaver model U-6A.
  • N947RK is a 1955 fixed wing single turbo prop engine Otter model DHC-3.
  • N927RK is a 1956 fixed wing single engine Beaver model DHC-2 MK. I(L20A).

These aircraft have been refurbished, are carefully maintained by an onsite mechanic and are some of the best bush planes flying in Alaska today. Detailed annual inspections each winter and daily inspections during season provide safe airworthy aircraft for the safety and comfort of our guests. As members of Medallion Foundation, we train our pilots, inspect and operate our aircraft by principals that exceed regulatory standards.

We fly our guests and guides to exclusive fishing opportunities which cannot be found at any other Alaska fishing lodge. Fly-out fishing to remote spots also gives you the chance to see magnificent remote streams and the breathtaking wilderness of South Western Alaska from the air.

“We loved everything about our trip. First of all, the fishing was great. We literally caught hundreds of rainbow trout among us. And I loved walking the rivers we fished, particularly East West. That was just an amazing experience. Related to the fishing, obviously, we found the guides all very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and helpful. The food was very good as well. While dinners and breakfasts were great, I think our favorite meal was lunch cooked over a fire or propane stove out on the rivers we fished. Nothing could have tasted better than hot food (and cookies) after a morning fishing in the river in the rain. Wow! We also slept very well in our cabins, which were spacious and comfortable. And as a father, I felt safe and comfortable with all of the pilots and the float planes. That, for me, was a key part of the trip, as safety has to be, and was clearly, your highest priority. Bottom line: We had a wonderful father-son bonding experience and had the time of our life.”  – Mark Stilwell Sr., August 2016
