As amazing as the experience of getting to our fishing spots is, the main attraction at Rainbow King Lodge will always be the fish. We’re located in the heart of Alaska’s renowned trophy Rainbow Trout region. However, that’s far from the only kind of fishing you’ll find at Rainbow King Lodge. In addition to the region’s famous rainbow trout, our Alaska fly fishing guides will help you find the best places to locate many other species, including:

At least one of the salmon species will be available at all times of the season, allowing you to plan your trip to include the species of your choice:

While all Salmon species will never run at the same time, the best overlap of runs will occur from mid to late July.
Rainbow Trout are available throughout the season, with the largest and most plentiful being available during June and mid-August through September.
Arctic Grayling fishing is always excellent, as is the Dolly Varden/Arctic Char and Northern Pike.

Pacific Halibut Fishing

We keep several skiffs at Calypso Bay on the coast for those that might want to enjoy the challenge of fishing for Pacific Halibut. Calypso Bay is relatively shallow by halibut standards, so huge weights and strong currents are not a problem. We have all the needed deep sea tackle for a day’s fly-out to Calypso Bay.

Yes. We offer fly-out trips to Calypso Bay on the coast, where we keep a fleet of skiffs. Because Calypso Bay is relatively shallow by halibut standards, you won't need to fight heavy currents or use massive weights. We provide all the necessary deep-sea tackle for the trip.

Every day offers a new environment. You will have the opportunity to fish in multiple distinct locations—which could mean hiking over the tundra, rafting down a river, strolling through the woods, or flying out to the coast. You will be accompanied by experienced guides who will teach you everything you need to know to hit your limit.

When you return from the water, you will stay in luxurious accommodations and enjoy meals prepared with fresh ingredients. Evenings are spent relaxing by the fire and swapping stories with fellow anglers.

Iliamna is legally a "dry" village, meaning we cannot sell or supply liquor. However, guests are welcome to bring their own spirits. We provide all necessary mixers and are happy to serve your wine during dinner. The lodge atmosphere is social and relaxed, and guests often enjoy tending the bar and sharing stories.
